The gross industrial production of the Bohai Bay area is about RMB968.45 billion. Electronics production in the region is 27% of that of the entire Chinese mainland, and that figure is expected to grow to 29% in 2008. Total production for the Tianjin IT industry in 2006 surpassed RMB 250 billion, representing an increase of more than 25% over production in the same period last year. Electronics manufacturing production represented over RMB230 billion of this figure and export of electronic products in 2006 accounted for over RMB120 billion.
